I Give Myself Away by: Zakiya S. Kyles
Everyday we give ourselves away to a number of things. We give away to our family, job, the environment, and people in general. We give our finances, wisdom, energy, information, and our bodies to the point we are like Bill Withers says:”Till you use me up”.
Have you ever considered that in all your giving and your using the things that you give to God or how He is using you? Do you evaluate His daily use of your life to bring Him glory. Is God REALLY using you in the best way possible?
Many times we place restrictions, boundaries, limitations and even a barricade on what and how God can use us. It generally is on the terms in which we are comfortable with being used. However, if we are to live fulfilled lives for God it sometimes involves a sacrifice and denial of self to be utilized completely and fully.
To give ourselves away requires that we fully rely upon the Holy Spirit to guide and direct where He sees the best fit for our use. That involves seeking, knowing, acknowledging, and living out our purpose. (SN:It’s never too late to find your purpose.) Giving ourselves away also includes exercising faith and knowing that God will provide the balance needed.
If we look at scripture God has allowed the most unlikely people to be used for His glory and benefit His people. We are no different and truly have no excuses! Let’s look at two of my girls from the Bible that allowed God to use them in incredible ways!
Rahab hid the spies and showed great allegiance to God. If Rahab, a prostitute, who had “heard” of the Israelite’s God exercised extreme faith and allowed God to use her why can’t we? (Joshua~2:8-11)
Queen Esther allowed God to use her by exercising great faith to save her people (Jews) by approaching King Xerxes, and asking him to intervene on the plot of Haman who intended to destroy the Jews. Do you exercise your faith in the uncertainty of results so that the lives of others can be saved? (~Esther~)
I encourage you to give yourself away to God and earnestly seek Him for your “best fit” in the kingdom. When we seek God for the “best fit”, the standards and approval of men become very small and minute to what God’s “best fit” is for us.
